We’re seeking a skilled bilingual linguist fluent in English and German to join our dynamic language services team. This remote, freelance role offers flexible hours and competitive pay for high-quality localization, translation, and content adaptation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate and localize content between English and German (both directions), including websites, marketing materials, software interfaces, legal documents, and technical manuals.
- Proofread and edit translations for accuracy, cultural nuance, and tone consistency.
- Collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines and client specifications.
- Perform terminology research and maintain glossaries for specialized domains (e.g., tech, e-commerce, healthcare).
- Provide linguistic QA and testing for machine translation outputs or voiceovers.
Qualifications
- Native-level proficiency in German (any variant: DE-AT, DE-CH, DE-DE) and near-native fluency in English (US/UK).
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a translator or linguist, with a portfolio of English-German projects.
- Strong writing skills and deep cultural knowledge of both language regions.
- Familiarity with CAT tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast) and terminology management software.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Certification from a recognized body (e.g., ATA, BDÜ, or equivalent).
- Experience in specific industries like IT, gaming, or marketing.
- Knowledge of additional tools like Adobe Suite, Subtitle Edit, or neural MT engines.
